Final Blog Assignment!!!!!

Write about dreams you have. You can tell about the last one you remember or one you have had many times...

If only in my dreams

No matter where I am, I get this sensation that one of my teeth is loose. I start to wiggle it with my tongue, then stick in a finger. When I pull out my finger, there is blood. Not a lot of blood, but enough to be worried. Then I notice that there are tiny pieces in my mouth, and I start to spit out pieces of enamel and then whole teeth. At that point I usually wake up, unless I also realize that I am back in America, doing any random thing. It always feel hot, and I feel like I really want a nice cool shower and a long nap. But then I realize that it is Sunday evening. And I have to work on Monday morning. And, oh shit, I haven't packed my suitcase, it takes two hours to get to the airport and my plane leaves in 1 and a half. And there is this deep down feeling that if I don't make that flight, I will never get back to Korea, and I will want to stop living. And then I wake up.

Blog Assignment #9

Post something about family. Either your family and childhood, or what you want for the future. It can be your thoughts about families in general as well.

Family tradition

I have just become an uncle and I don't really care.
I think it is really strange how as we grow older and move into our own life, some things become more or less important to us. For me, I live farther from my family than most people on earth. But even when I was near them, I felt a gap between us. Not that I don't love and appreciate my family and all they have done for me, but there has never been a complete and honestly open connection with them for a long time. So now my brother got married, to a wife I don't know and have no social or emotional connection to, and now a child that I am supposed to care for to some measure beyond what I actually feel. I feel bad that I can't feel some emotion, and a bit worried. But it all seems so far away and so strange to me, kids, families, the cycle of procreation and death on not much more than DNA.

Blog assignment #8

Write about some beautiful feature of a person. It can be yourself, a friend or a stranger.

Seven ways to fake a perfect skin

Have you ever looked at someone, a friend or stranger, and noticed something perfect. Maybe not everything about them, because that's theoretically impossible, but at least one thing that draws your attention so intensely that you never want to lose the sight of it. This happens many times I think, but rarely are you lucky enough to have something other than a memory of it, and that quickly fades. These are perfect lips. I don't think she is the only girl in the world with perfect lips, but for me they are beautiful. Something about the way the bottom lip cushions the straw with an amazing softness like a fluffy down pillow to rest. The way the upper lip rises and falls and holds a whisper of wonderful words behind them. The small freckle in the bottom right corner. These are beautiful lips. But maybe it helps that I know who they belong to and that is really what makes them so perfect.

Mile-high club

Last Tuesday during the Chichester visit, I decided to explore the mountains behind the school. I got a late start, but ended up spending about 5 hours hiking through the mountains. I walked along the trail behind seokyeong and linked up to bukhansan park. I followed the trail to the big gate on the mountain fortress wall. It took about 2 hours to get there and there was some pretty rough terrain. I stopped an had a can of magkole at the highest viewpoint. Even though it was a bit hazy, I still had a really nice view of Seoul. I ended up in suyu and had chicken and beer because I was starving from the long hike.
